To properly understand how to deliver effective self-defence/CQB (Close Quarter Combat)  to our students we need to have a clear understanding of some unassailable principles and concepts that determine what should then be appropriate techniques to teach; otherwise we are simply teaching ‘martial arts in jeans.’
 
Combat Concepts is the first in a ‘personal combat series’ of books and which contains a compilation of published articles on these subjects that I ve written over a number of years, and collected here in some 10 chapters. Knowing these concepts is critical in understanding the wider issues that are key to making our self-defence or, as we should more correctly term it, ‘self-protection’ strategy work when it comes to to proactive and reactive requirements.
